Unsubscribe List Management

How Unsubscribes Work

Every outreach email includes a one-click unsubscribe link (RFC 8058 compliant). When a lead clicks it:

  1. They're instantly added to your global unsubscribe list
  2. They'll never be contacted by any of your campaigns again
  3. The unsubscribe is permanently recorded (legal requirement)
  4. Their lead status is updated to reflect the opt-out

Your Global Unsubscribe List

View your unsubscribe list from Settings > Email > Unsubscribe List. This list:

  • Applies across all campaigns — once opted out, opted out everywhere
  • Cannot be overridden — you cannot re-add someone who unsubscribed
  • Is retained permanently, even if you delete your account

Other Ways Leads Are Removed

Your agent also stops contacting leads who:

  • Reply negatively — "Not interested," "Stop emailing me," etc.
  • Bounce — Invalid or defunct email addresses
  • Report spam — If they mark your email as spam

Compliance

Unsubscribe handling is automatic and ensures compliance with:

  • CAN-SPAM Act — Requires honoring opt-outs within 10 business days (LeadClaw does it instantly)
  • GDPR — Right to withdraw consent at any time
  • RFC 8058 — One-click unsubscribe standard supported by major email providers

Can I Manually Add to the Unsubscribe List?

If a lead contacts you directly and asks to stop receiving emails, you can manually add them to the unsubscribe list from the Leads page by updating their status.

Important: Never attempt to contact someone who has unsubscribed, even through a different campaign or email address. This violates CAN-SPAM and can result in significant fines.
